INFINITIVO (INFINITIVE) The basic form of a verb (action word) undefined by a subject or tense (in Spanish, these end in -ar, -er, and -ir) escribir = to write levantar = to lift abrir = to open sacar = to take out necesitar = to need ser = to be (permanent; names, characteristics, etc.) estar = to be (temporary; feelings, location, etc.) *The –ar/-er/-ir is like the “to ___” part in an infinitive in English!
