"AR verbs" – These are verbs that end in the  letters -AR.  -hablar (to talk), bailar (to dance), trabajar (to work)… “Infinitive” – an unconjugated verb (to do…) “Stem” – the verb without the ending “Ending” – the last 2 letters of the verb. hablar- to talk Infinitive hablar stem hablar ending

11 TERMINOLOGY "Conjugate" – this is when we change the verb.  For an -ar verb, we will take off the -ar, and add different endings depending on the form.  In English this would be an example of verb conjugation:  I sing,  You sing  He sings, She sings, We sing, You sing (Spain), and They sing. In Spanish, it would  look like this: yo canto, tú cantes,  él canta, ella canta, nosotros cantamos, vosotros cantáis, and  ellos cantan, ellas cantan, and ustedes cantan.
