Pronunciation Every letter will always make the SAME sound. Only 5 vowel sounds (a, e, i, o, u).

Rules of stress When a word ends in a consonant (other than n/s), the stress is on the last syllable. Example: trabajar When a word ends in a vowel, n or s, the stress is on the second-to-last syllable. Example: trabajo Any exception to the above rules must have a written accent.
Most Spanish words end in a vowel, n or s, so the stress will normally be on the second-to-last syllable.
Accent marks á é í ó ú 1. A word does not follow the rules of stress Example: lápiz 2. A change in meaning from another word Example: sí / si 3. An interrogative word Example: ¿cuándo?
For example: Tu=your / Tú=you Si=if / Sí=yes El=the / Él=he
