13 Después de esto, la gente le llevó a Jesús unos niños para que los tocara, pero los discípulos trataban de impedirlo. 14 Al ver aquello, Jesús se disgustó y les dijo: “Dejen que los niños se acerquen a mí y no se lo impidan, porque el Reino de Dios es de los que son como ellos. 15 Les aseguro que el que no reciba el Reino de Dios como un niño, no entrará en él”.

13 And people were bringing children to him that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.”

Oct. 7, 2012 This is the 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time. The Gospel reading for today brings up a most interesting topic, that has been discussed ever since the time of Adam and Eve. In Genesis 1:27-28 the Lord created man in his own image, male and female. Then he blessed them saying: “Be fruitful and multiply.”

When Moses allowed divorce, it was due to a hardness of heart of the people of his day. There were two schools of thought on the interpretation. The Shammai School interpreted the matter with utter strictness. A matter of indecency was adultery.

The case of annulments is to declare, after a thorough investigation that for some reason there was no free consent. If either side was coerced, or not completely free because of mental illness, or homosexuality, or alcoholism, or other things, it can be declared that there was no marriage. Therefore, the person is free to marry. Every diocese has a marriage tribunal to determine the cases brought before them.
