2 3 Ways to Form Questions FORMULA #1 1. One way to form a question is to raise the pitch of your voice at the end of a declarative sentence. Make sure to include an upside down question mark at the beginning of the question and a regular question mark at the end. Ejemplo: DECLARATIVE SENTENCE Ustedes juegan el fútbol los viernes. QUESTION ¿Ustedes juegan el fútbol los viernes? (remember to raise your pitch towards the end of the question.)

3 3 Ways to Form Questions FORMULA #2 2. Another way to form a question is to invert (switch) the order or the subject and verb in a declarative statement. The subject may even be placed at the end of the sentence. *For your reference the subject will be in blue and the verb in red. Ejemplo: DELCARATIVE STATEMENT Ella baila con sus amigas. QUESTION ¿Baila ella con sus amigas?

4 3 Ways to Form Questions FORMULA #3 3. The way of forming a question in Spanish is to add the tags ¿no? or ¿verdad? at the end of a statement. STATEMENT Tú trabajas el lunes en la escuela. QUESTION Tú trabajas el lunes en la escuela, ¿no? Tú trabajas el lunes en la escuela, ¿verdad? Think of this kind of like we use it in English by saying “right” at the end of our questions.

5 sí o no questions  Simplest to create  English question usually start with do or does  Do or does is not translated into Spanish  Spanish – simply switch the subject and verb  These questions normally start with the verb. Questions - sí o no
