1 Where are the seven athletes from? 2 Why are they to receive a grant? 3 How much money will they receive and what for? 4 Why is this important, according to Édgar Claure? 5 Where is the swimmer going to train? 6 And the 3 athletes? 7 Who is not going to leave Bolivia to train? 8 Which is the most expensive sport, according to the article?

1 they will benefit 2 they will train 3 they will receive 4 (it) will be 5 (she) will go away to 6 (she) will take part in 7 they will bring 8 (he) will continue 9 they will be 10 they will leave again ¿Cómo se dice en español…?

Future tense – I will do…. The future is used to describe things we will do. This is quite a nice tense as there is only one set of endings for all 3 types of verbs. You need to remember, however, that endings are added on to the infinitive, which is unusual when forming tenses in Spanish. Regular Future Tense Verbs Infinitive + Yo (I)é Tú (you – 1 person, fam)ás él/ ella – he/sheá Usted – (you – 1 person polite)á Nosotros - weemos Vosotros – you pl., faméis ellos/ellas - theyán Ustedes – you pl., politeán Examples Después de mis exámenes, iré a España (After my exams, I will go to Spain) Cenaremos a las ocho (We will have dinner at 8 oclock) ¡La fiesta será estupenda! (The party will be great!) En el futuro comprarán una casa en Francia (In the future they will buy a house in France)

Future tense – Irregular verbs There are a few common irregular verbs in the future tense, that is to say that you do not add endings onto the infinitive, but onto a slightly different stem. The chart below shows you the I form – the other forms will have the same change. VerbMeaningI Form in future salirto go outsaldré tenerto havetendré poderto be able topodré decirto saydiré hacerto do/ to makeharé haberthere is/ there arehabrá (it form) Examples Lo haré más tarde - I will do it later Tendremos un exámen la semana que viene - We will have a test next week Habrá un cine nuevo en nuestro pueblo el año que viene - There will be a new cinema in our town next year
