2 The conditional tense The conditional is used when we say something ‘would’ happen. I would go, I would eat, I would have, I would be…. It is conditional on something else happening. It is closely linked to the future tense because it’s something that hasn’t happened yet!

3 Formation Take the future stem. Usually, for MOST VERBS this is the infinitive Add the endings (they are the same as the endings for the imperfect tense) -ía, ías, ía, íamos, íais, ían A group of irregular verbs have a different stem ( not the infinitive).
