Spanish 2 Winter Exam Essay Prompt: You are going to be studying abroad in a Spanish speaking country next semester (you may decide which one). You have been given a chance to write a letter to your host family introducing yourself and letting them know a little bit about yourself. You also get a chance to ask them a few questions to get to know them. If you want, you may direct your letter to a specific person in your host family and you may work with the assumption that you know the city they live in and basic things like names etc. Be creative and have fun! [3/4 to 1 page written]
Spanish 2 Reading Comprehension Section: This will be a write-up using vocab and grammar that you’ve covered in Spanish. It could be one of the following: A conversation between two students discussing what they like to do and when. A letter from a student to their grandparents talking about their school schedule. A description of a doctor visit with the patient describing their symptoms etc. A short story using familiar vocabulary/grammar structures. You will need to read it and answer questions on it in ENGLISH. These questions will check your understanding of the story, allow you to explain why a certain sentence would be phrased in a certain way, and/or give you a chance to show how well you can figure out new vocabulary from the context of a story.
Ejemplo: Mi hermana se llama María. Ella fue al doctor ayer. Ella llegó a la clínica a las nueve, pero no fue a su examen médico hasta las nueve y media. La enfermera le preguntó muchas cosas. Tenía que saber un poco sobre los síntomas de mi hermana. Mi hermana contestó las preguntas. Tenía algunos síntomas. Le dijo a la enfermera, “En general tengo buena salud pero ahora no me siento muy bien. Estoy mareada mucho, tengo muchísimo sueño y no puedo controlar mis emociones. Mi esposo está muy preocupado.” La enfermera hizo una prueba de la sangre de mi hermana. Despues de algunos minutos entró el doctor. Tenía una sonrisa grande en la boca. ¿Sabes que le dijo a mi hermana?
