Gramática de 2A

YoINosotros/ Nosotras We TúYou ÉlHeEllosThey EllaSheEllasThey Ud.You (formal)Uds.You all Ellos is used to refer to “they” if there is at least one male present in the group. (Same with nosotros) Ellas is used to refer to “they” if the group is all females. (Same with nosotras) Uds. is used to refer to “you all” or “y’all”. It is a group of more than one person that you are talking to.

 Remember you use “ tú ” with people you know like family, friends, or those younger than you.  You use “ Ud. ” if you are refering to someone you don’t know or when you address adults.  You can combine a subject pronoun and a name to form a subject:  Alejandro y yo = nosotros  Carlos y tú = Uds.

Las Preguntas  ¿Quién? = Who?  ¿Quién es el presidente? = Who is the president?  Answer with the name of a person or pronoun for the person such as “he” or “she”  Ejemplo: Obama es el presidente

Las Preguntas  ¿Tienes…? = Do you have?  ¿Tienes la clase de español? = Do you have Spanish class?  Because it is asking “you” the question you have to answer with the “I” form.  Ejemplo: Tengo la clase de español.

Las Preguntas  ¿Necesitas…? = Do you need?  ¿Necesitas un libro? = Do you need a book?  Because the question is asking “you” then you must answer with “I”  Ejemplo: Necesito un libro.

Las preguntas  If the question has “tú” or “Ud.” as the subject you must answer with the “yo” form  If the question has “Uds.” or “someone y tú” or “someone y Ud.” then you must answer with the “nosotros” form.

Comparaciones  Más + adjective + que = more than  Más aburrido que = more boring than  Ejemplo: La clase de matemáticas es más interesante que la clase de ciencias sociales.  (Math class is more interesting than Social Studies class)  You have to you the little verb “es” before your “más…que”.
