DOS VERDADES Y UNA MENTIRA español III El presente del subjuntivo con expresiones de duda

PRÁCTICA PARA EL EXAMEN (4.2) Antes de empezar con Dos verdades y una mentira, saquen una hoja de papel y completen las siguientes frases. Usen el presente del indicativo, el subjuntivo o el infinitivo (-ar,-er,-ir). 1. Nunca llego a mi trabajo a tiempo. A mi jefe ________________ (molestarse; llegar) muy tarde todos los días. 2. Mis padres tienen mucha confianza en mi hermana. Ellos ________________ (estar seguros de; estudiar) mucho para sus clases. 3. Mis gatas son muy extrañas. A ellas ________________ (emocionarse; dormir) por todo el día. 4. A mí me irritan los niños dramáticos. Yo ________________ (entristecerse; necesitar) la atención de sus padres.

PRÁCTICA PARA EL EXAMEN (4.2) *Bolded notes correspond with the SECOND verb being conjugated in each sentence (FIRST verb in each sentence is always presente indicative) 1. A mi jefe le molesta que (yo) llegue (molestarse; llegar) muy tarde todos los días. emotion = subjunctive (molestarse = gustar-like verb) 2. Ellos están seguros de que (ella) estudia (estar seguros de; estudiar) mucho para sus clases. certainty = indicative 3. A ellas les emociona dormir (emocionarse; dormir) por todo el día. NO subject change = infinitive (emocionarse = gustar-like verb) 4. Yo me entristezco que (ellos) necesiten (entristecerse; necesitar) la atención de sus padres. emotion = subjunctive (irritarse = gustar-like verb; entristecerse = reflexive verb)

INSTRUCCIONES I am going to divide the class in half. There will be two teams: Equipo 1 y Equipo 2. All players will need to take out a scrap sheet sheet of paper and write down 3 statements about themselves. You can continue on the sheets we have already written on today. Please write:  2 TRUE statements (dos verdades=2 truths)  1 FALSE statement (una mentira=a lie) Write your NAME on the paper and pass it forward. I will keep 2 separate piles for both teams. I will read each paper aloud, alternating turns. The opposing team (the team that does not have the peson whose paper I am reading on it) will have the chance to collaborate for twenty seconds and guess which statement they think is a lie. One representative will report back.

If that team correctly guesses the lie, they get a point. If they do not, they lose a point. The team will have to pose the following type of statement to me when they have come up with their answer: Dudamos que (nombre de la persona) + (verbo en el presente del subjuntivo) + (el resto de la frase) To practice, I will begin. Pretend I am on Equipo 1. Here are my 3 statements: 1. Yo nunca he roto ningún hueso (bone). 2. Yo estoy emparentado con (related to) Johnny Cash. 3. Yo soy nativo americano. Equipo 2 thinks that #2 is the lie. They would say something like:  Dudamos que Señor Sharp esté emparentado con Johnny Cash.

Equipo 2 would be correct. They would receive a point.  If they guessed incorrectly, Equipo 1 (my team) would get a point. Atención: Your team’s use of the subjunctive must ALSO be correct in order to receive the point. ¡Vamos a empezar!
