1 How to make commands in Spanish. First of all, commands in Spanish come in two kinds: formal and informal.

Formal commands:

USTED COMMANDS: Use the present tense subjunctive conjugation in the usted form. Just like with Tú commands, if you want to include the subject (usted) you put it after the command. Watch for irregular verbs! Ejemplos: Haga cola. No vaya al supermercado. ¡Visite la frutería!

USTEDES COMMANDS: Use the present tense subjunctive conjugation in the ustedes form. Just like with Tú commands, if you want to include the subject (ustedes) you put it after the command. Watch for irregular verbs! Ejemplos: Doblen a la derecha. No coman en el coche. ¡Estén en clase!

NOTE: When working with DOP, IOP and Reflexive Pronouns, these commands work the exact same way as your Tú commands Affirmative: Stick them on the end of the command (you may need to add accents to keep the pronunciation correct) Negative: Put the pronouns before the command Review your notes on Tú commands if you need more detail than that
