Mandatos informales Informal (Tú) Commands

I. Formation of Affirmative Tú Commands Take a look at these commands and think about what the conjugations have in common: ¡Come las verduras! ¡Habla en español! ¡Escribe la tarea!

Regulars The tú affirmative command is formed by using the tú present tense form of the verb minus the “s.” Remember: This is how to tell someone you are familiar with how to DO something. Let’s practice!

Fill in the blank with the correct affirmative tú command. 1. (escribir) ____________ la tarea. 2. (hablar) ____________ por teléfono. 3. (comer) _____________ las verduras. 4. (leer) __________ el libro. 5. (escuchar) ___________ a la profesora. Escribe Habla Come Lee Escucha

Affirmative Tú commands- Irregulars “Vin Diesel has ten weapons.” Say it with a German accent and it sounds like this: Ven Di Sal Haz Ten Ve Pon Sé Come here! (venir) Say/Tell (it)! (decir) Leave! (salir) Do (it)! (hacer) Have (care)! (tener) Go! (ir) Put (it)! (poner) Be (good)! (ser)

Vamos a Practicar: Fill in the blank with the correct affirmative tú command. ¡Recuerda Vin Diesel!

(ser)____ un peatón responsable, Pablo. Sé (poner)_____ tu permiso de manejar en tu billetera (wallet). Pon (venir)_____conmigo a la fuente. Ven (ir)____a pie. Con el tráfico que hay, es más rápido. Ve

Negative Tú Commands ¡No comas el pastel! ¡No tires la comida! ¡No corras en la cafetería! ¡No uses el teléfono! Hmmm… Can you figure out the rule for forming a negative tú command?

Negative Tú Commands Use a negative tú command to tell someone you are familiar with NOT to do something. Example: Don’t eat the cake! Don’t throw the food! Don’t run in the cafeteria! Don’t use your cell phone! ¡No comas el pastel! ¡No tires la comida! ¡No corras en la cafetería! En español: ¡No uses el teléfono!

THE “YO” FORM OF THE VERB, MINUS THE “O” FLIP-FLOP THE ENDING AND DON’T FORGET “NO!” Negative Tú Commands (Helpful rhyme)

Negative Tú Commands Notice that -ar verbs take the ending -es and that –er and –ir verbs take the ending -as. That’s because you “flip-flop” the ending.

Ejemplos… The “yo” form of the verb, Minus the “o” Flip-flop the ending And don’t forget “NO!” Comer com o An “er” verb would usually en in “es” in the tú form, but when you flip-flop the ending you use the “ar” ending instead, “as.” as No

Los Irregulares ser— no seas ir— no vayas dar— no des estar— no estés Only four words are irregular in the negative tú command form, and you can probably guess which ones: Hint: Write these words on the SIDE of your paper!

Spelling Changes Remember to keep the sound of the original word. Ejemplo: jugar Yo form: jueg o Minus the “o”: Flip-flop ending: es Do you remember this letter combination? What do we need to add??? ues Don’t forget “No”: ¡No juegues! What other letter combinations do you think will have a spelling change? --gar --car --zar --gu --qu --c Remember? We saw this same spelling change in the preterite.

Vamos a Practicar… How does the rhyme go??? The “yo” form of the verb, Minus the “o” Flip-flop the ending And don’t forget “¡NO!” (or the irregulars… or spelling changes!)
