Now you will learn the indirect object pronouns le and les. Observe the difference between a direct object and an indirect object in the following sentences. Juan le lanzó la pelota a Carmen. In the preceding sentences, la pelota is the direct object because it is the direct receiver of the action of the verb lanzó (threw). Carmen is the indirect object because it indicates “to whom” the ball was thrown.
