2 Los pronombres le, les (telling what happens to others) 1.Le, and les are indirect object pronouns. They are the indirect receivers of the action of the verb. –El farmacéutico le despacha la receta a Pablo. –The pharmacist fiils Pablos prescription. –El medico les habla a sus pacientes. –The doctor speaks to his patients What does the pharmacist fill for Pablo?una receta. Una receta is the direct object of the sentence because it is the direct reciever of the action. It tells us what was given. Pablo is the indirect object because it indicates for whom the prescription was filled.

3 2. The indirect object pronoun le and les are both masculine and feminine. Le and les are often used along with a noun phrase as in the following examples: –El medico le da una receta al enfermo. –Le da una receta a la enferma. –El medico les da una receta a sus pacientes. 3. Since le and les can refer to more than one person, they are often clarified like this: a él a ellos Le hablo a ella Les hablo a ellas a ustedes a ustedes

4 4. Remember that me, te, le, nos and les are placed right BEFORE the verb. –¿El medico te ve ? –Si, y me examina. –¿le habla a ella el farmacéutico? –La recepcionista nos da una cita –¿les da la cita para mañana?
