SER  Ser is used with PERMANENT or long term characteristics.  To help you remember Ser, think of it as a Sharpie marker. Sharpies are permanent markers. ESTAR  Estar is used with TEMPORARY or short term characteristics.  Remember Estar as an Expo marker. This is a temporary marker.
