2 Grammar Terms to Know Infinitive: The basic form of the verb. In English the infinitive is to + action (ex. To run). In Spanish the infinitive is one word ending in –ar, -er, or –ir (Ex. Correr). Conjugation: Changing a verb from the infinitive form so that it matches the subject(s). (Ex. To run changes to He runs) Subject: The person, place, or thing being described or doing something. Subject Pronouns: A pronoun that replaces the subject. (Ex. Replacing Juan with He or Él)

3 Ser vs. Estar (Notes) In Spanish- there are two verbs that both mean to be- Ser & Estar. Both verbs mean to be The difference is that Ser refers to things that are permanent and Estar refers to things that are temporary. To help know which verb two use, remember these phrases: For Ser use D.O.T.T.I.P. For Estar use H.E.L.P.C.T.
