HOW LONG AGO: HACER WITH EXPRESSIONS OF TIME

Para el fin de esta leccíon, se puede:  Comprender los usos de “hacer” con expresiónes de tiempo.  Comprender los tres tiempos del verbos con hacer.  Usar frases con hacer y expresiónes de tiempo.

Con Presente  Hace + periodo de tiempo + que + presente del verbo. Or  Presente + hace + periodo de tiempo  It expresses the continuation of an action of the verb that started in the past and continues in the present.  Hace cuatro años que estudio en este colegio.- I have been studying in this college for four years.

Con Preterito  Hace + Periodo de tiempo + que + preterito del verbo or  Preterito + hace + periodo de tiempo  This is used to say something that happened in the past.  Hace varios meses que se visitó su abuelo.- His grandfather visited some months ago.

Con Imperfecto  Hacía + Periodo de Tiempo +que + imperfecto del verbo  Expresses the duration of a continuous action in the past.  Hacía dos años que vivíamos en esta casa.- We lived in this house for two years.

Con “No”  If you want to say someone has not done something, put the “no” before the conjugated verb.  Hace cuatro años que no estudio en este colegio.- I have not been studying in this college for four years.

Practice  Translate  I have not been playing soccer for two years.  She ate two hours ago.  They went to school for four years.

Answers  Hace dos años que no juego fútbol.  Hace tres horas que comió.  Hacía quatro años que iban a escuela.
