Using “hacer” to express time When wanting to state how long something has been going on or how long it has been since something occurred, use “hacer.” Hace dos años que enseño en Tekamah. Hace cuatro años que me gradué de UNL.

Using “hacer” for expressing time in the present tense. To say how long something has been going on, we use the following: Hace + the period of time + present tense of the verb. Hace quince años que yo conozco mi mejor amiga, Anne.

Using “hacer” to talk about the past. (ago) To say how long it has been since something happened, use the following. Hace + period of time + preterite Hace tres años que movimos a Tekamah.

Using “hacer” to talk about the past. To talk about how long it has been, we can also put the verb in front of “hacer.” Preterite + hace + period of time. Movimos hace tres años.

Asking questions with “hacer” When asking how long something has been going on or how long it has been since something happened, use the following two sentence structures. Cuánto tiempo + hace + que + present tense O Cuánto tiempo + hace + que + preterite
