2 ¿Cuánto (tiempo) hace que + a verb in the present tense?
This is used to ask how long or since when an action has been going on. Examples: ¿Cuántos años hace que vives aquí? ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que tu profe enseña español?

Hace + time expression + que + verb in the present tense. Hace 3 años que vivo aquí. Hace 25 años que mi profe enseña español.

4 Answer the following: ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que vives aquí? ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que eres un(a) estudiante de HHS? ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que juegas tu deporte favorito?

5 Hace + period of time + que + verb in the imperfect Examples
To express the idea that an action that began in the remote past and was still continuing when another occurrence happened, Spanish using the following construction (had been doing something….) Hace + period of time + que + verb in the imperfect Examples En el año 2000, hacía 4 años que yo estaba casada. (I had been married for 4 years in 2000.) En el año 2000, hacía 3 años que yo vivía en Chanhassen. En el año 2000, hacía 14 años que yo enseñaba el español.
