 Why am I here?  What will I be able to do?  How will I be tested?  How will I be graded?  What are the expectations?  How is this class different?  What next?  What are my goals?

 Language is a skill, how do you get better at something in general?  Make some guesses at how you might get better at a new language?  Who thinks I should learn Spanish, why? at1Vk

 When will you understand?  Reading tends to be easiest for many!  Level 1: main ideas, titles, captions, menus, short passages

 What can you say and write?  Level 1? Beginning Language:  You can use basic phrases, greetings, vocabulary, and questions.  You can describe yourself, ask simple questions, make lists, fill out forms, and write notes!

 What can you understand when you listen?  It may be very difficult to understand spoken Spanish.  At first you may only be able to understand single words or small phrases.  You might have to hear things more than once to understand.

 You will be assessed in this class based on 60% participation, 20% projects, and 20% assessments. See syllabus for more details!  This class has weekly quizzes!  You will know your learning targets and you will set goals for yourself!  You are in charge of your education, I am just the facilitator!
