Ejemplo #1 Papá, Tengo muchos años queriendo escribir esta carta y nunca he tenido el valor de hacerlo. Creo que muy dentro de mí, tengo miedo de la reacción que tendrás al leerla. Todas las veces que trate de decirte lo mucho que te extrañaba y la mucha falta que me has hecho, me hacías sentir insignificante. Es por eso que finalmente decidí escribirte esta carta. Creo que desde que nací, sentí que tú no me querías. Sin embargo, poco a poco me fui ganando tu amor y desde ese día éramos inseparables. Cuando empezaron los problemas entre ustedes, tú te empezaste a alejar de mi. Yo no entendía por qué, yo no había hecho nada. Siento que todos estos años yo he cargado sentimientos de culpa por algo que ocurrió entre mi mamá y tú. Siento que fuiste muy egoísta y me privaste de la oportunidad de tener un papá. Después de más 15 años, te veo y no te conozco. No eres el papá que yo tanto quería, que siempre me llevaba de la mano y que admiraba. Mucha veces me pongo a pensar en lo injusto que has sido y me lleno de tristeza en no tener un papá. Llevo muchos años tratando de entenderte y no puedo. No puedo comprender como alguien tiene el corazón de dejar a su familia y no querer estar presente en los acontecimientos de sus hijos. Ahora me empiezo a dar cuenta de que nosotros no tuvimos la culpa, pero eso no quiere decir que no tengo momentos de debilidad en los cuales me vuelvo a convertir en esa niña de 10 años que se siente rechazada por el único hombre que debería de haberme querido incondicionalmente. Hoy me doy cuenta que en odiarte, me estoy haciendo daño a mí misma y eso no es justo. Claro, mi corazón sigue herido, pero no derrotado. Quiero que sepas que tú fuiste el que salió perdiendo pues creo que soy una persona que vale la pena llegar a conocer. Quiero que sepas que siempre te voy a agradecer por haberme dado la vida y aunque lo trate de negar, te quiero. Tu hija, Maritza

We have been learning about poverty and the effects this global challenge has on each individual. What is a challenge that YOU have had to face? You will write a letter to ONE of the following people where you will make a personal request/prayer What will you ask you? Why?

God: If you could write a letter to God and you knew He would reply, what would you tell him? What would you ask for? Why? To yourself: If you had the opportunity to travel into the future, know what your life will be like in 10 years and you had the opportunity to give yourself advice, what advice would you give yourself? Why? Teacher: We’ve all had that one teacher that has motivated us, disappointed us or just made us angry. If you had the chance to write that teacher a letter without any repercussions, what would you tell him/her? Family: We all have family problems, it is something that one escapes. However, not all of us have had the opportunity to express our feelings to a particular person. If you had the opportunity to write a letter to a person that has hurt you, that is no longer with you, that has died or that has had a positive influence on you, what would you tell them? Example #1 Dad, I’ve been meaning to write you this letter for a long time but I haven’t had the courage to do so. I think, deep down inside, I’m afraid of your reaction when you read it. Every time I’ve tried telling you how much I miss you and how much I’ve needed you, you have made me feel insignificant. This is why I decided to write you this letter. I think that since I was born, I have feel unwanted by you. However, little by little I won you over and from that day on, we were inseparable. When you and my mom started having problems, you began to keep your distance from me. I didn’t understand why. I had not done anything wrong. I feel that all of these year i Have carried this guilt because of what happened between you two. I feel that you were very selfish because you took away my opportunity to have a dad. After more than 15 years, I see you and I don’t know you. You are not the dad that I loved so much, that always took me by the hand and that I admired. Many times i think about how unfair you’ve been and it makes me sad to know that I don’t have a dad. I’ve tried to figure you out and I can’t. I can’t understand how someone that leave their family and not be present in their child’s lives. I now know that it wasn’t our fault but that doesn’t mean that there are moments that fill me with sadness and I turn into that 10 year old girl that feels rejected by the only man that should have loved me unconditionally. I now know that by hating you, I’m hurting myself and that’s not fair. My heart still hurts but I am not defeated. I want you to know that you were the one that lost here because I think i am a person that is worth getting to know.
