Conjugating Verbs! So far, you know that hablar means to speak. Conjugating a verb means that you take the verb out of the infinitive form (hablar-to speak) and change it to allow you to say: –I speak –You speak –He/She/You (formal) speak/It speaks –We speak –Yall speak –They speak

How do you conjugate a verb? First, you take the –ar off of the infinitive. –HABLAR And you are left with: –HABL This is called the stem of the verb (el raíz). Then you add appropriate endings.
