Okay, So... Right now you have been using what is called the present indicative tense. For example: Yo bailo I dance Tú bailas You dance Él baila He dances And so on...

But... Yo Estoy Bailand o I am dancing Tú Estás Bailand o You are dancing Él, Ella, Ud. Está Bailand o He/She/You is(are) dancing Nosotros/a s Estam os Bailand o We are dancing Vosotros/as Estáis Bailand o You are all dancing Ellos, Ellas, Uds. Están Bailand o They/You (form.) are dancing Now you will know how to say “I am dancing Pretty easy, right?

To make it even easier, the -ER/-IR verbs have the same ending... Yo Estoy Comiend o I am eating Tú Estás Comiend o You are eating Él, Ella, Ud. Está Comiend o He/She/You is (are) eating Nosotros/a s Estam os Comiend o We are eating Vosotros/a s Estáis Comiend o You all are eating Ellos, Ellas, Uds. FORMULA 1. Use the conjugated form of the verb ESTAR 2. Combine it with the present participle. -ar -ando -er/-ir -iendo estoyestamos estásestáis estáestán

Other examples include: Ella está haciendo la tarea. She is doing homework. Nosotros estamos mirando la pelicula. We are watching the movie. El burro está hablando con mi mamá. The donkey is talking with my mom. La Srta. Márquez está hablando a su clase. Ms. Márquez is talking to her class. La Sra. Hood está tocando la guitarra. Mrs. Hood is playing the guitar.

LOS IRREGULARES –AR/–ER verbs do not have a stem change. –IR verbs have a stem change.

O- UE U E- IE I E- I stays the same I venir (e--ie) = to come Yo estoy vieniendo. = I’m coming. Yo estoy v i niendo. ¡CORRECTO! Stem-Changing -IR verbs

O- UE U E- IE I E- I stays the same I dormir (o--ue) = to sleep Yo estoy duermiendo. = I am sleeping. Yo estoy d u rmiendo. ¡CORRECTO!

Stem-Changing There are many more stem-changing -IR verbs. Here are some examples: pedir = to ask for repetir = to repeat servir = to serve divertirse = to have fun medir = to measure

Some -ER verbs break the normal rules of the present progressive because of pronunciation. For example: Leer = to read L eie ndo Le y endo
