Comparatives and Superlatives Content Objective: Students will learn how to make comparisons with Comparatives & Superlatives. Language Objective: Students will complete activities to make comparisons between likes and dislikes.

Comparatives Spanish uses various structures when making unequal and equal comparisons. Unequal  más/menos…que more/less…than Equal  tan…como or tanto….como as…as as much as

Unequal comparisons más + adjective, adverb, or noun + que menos + adjective, adverb, or noun + que Ex. Isabel es más alta que Andrea. Isabel is taller than Andrea.

Equal comparisons tan + adjective or adverb + como Ex. La ropa de esta tienda es tan buena como la de los grandes almacenes. tanto(a,os,as) + noun + como Ex. No hay tantos vestidos como faldas.

Superlatives Los tacos son riquísimos. Dra. Staley –bueno Buenísima You can attach –ísimo (a,os,as) to an adjective for more emphasis. Ex: Nuestros trajes son elegantísimos. rico/tacos Los tacos son riquísimos. Dra. Staley –bueno Buenísima Malo-una torta Mi torta es malísima.

Superlatives In English, superlatives are formed by saying the most or the least or by adding –est at the end of an adjective. In Spanish, you form superlatives like this: el (la, los, las) + más/menos + adjective (+de) Ex. Nuestros trajes son los más elegantes (de Madrid) Our suits are the most elegant (in Madrid)
