2 What is a comparison? We use comparisons to show how 2 objects or people equate to each other. EX: The teacher is taller than the students. The dogs are bigger than the cats. This shirt is less pretty than that shirt. That car is as fast as this car.

3 ¿Cómo uso los comparativos?
¿Y en el español? Use the following expressions with adjectives to compare things in Spanish: más + adjective + que more…than tan + adjective + como as…as menos + adjective + que less…than ¿Cómo uso los comparativos?

4 Adjectives must agree in gender and in number with the noun.
Ejemplos La maestra es más alta que los estudiantes. The teacher is taller than the students. Adjectives must agree in gender and in number with the noun.

8 ¿Y qué más? Just like in English, some adjectives have irregular comparative forms: Bueno(a)-good Mejor(es)- better Malo(a)-bad Peor(es)-worse La galleta es buena, pero la tarta es mejor que la galleta.

9 Más irregulares… Joven-young Menor(es)- younger Viejo(a)-old Mayor(es)-older Mi padre es joven, pero él es mayor que mi madre.

10 Un poco más… Use más que, menos que, and tanto como to say if someone does something more than, less than, or as much as someone else. Ella come más que su hermana. She eats more than her sister.

11 Un poco más… Los chicos estudian menos que la chica.
The boys study less than the girl. Los estudiantes de español trabajan tanto como los estudiantes de ciencias. The Spanish students work as much as the science students.

12 ¡Practiquemos! Traduce a inglés.
El español es tan intersante como el inglés. Tu carro es más bonito que mi carro. Mi tía es menor que mi madre. Traduce a español. Juan is less hardworking than Pablo. Pizza is worse than chicken. I read as much as my brother.

13 Las Respuestas Traduce a inglés. Spanish is as interesting as English.
