5 Comparatives As the name suggest, comparatives are used to compare two things. In English, it can be formed by adding –er to the end of an adjective, or with the word “more.” In Spanish, there’s only one formula. Kevin is taller than Stuart: Kevin es más alto que Stuart. Bob has more eyes than Stuart: Bob tiene más ojos que Stuart.

14 Superlatives Superlatives are used to make the highest degree of comparison. In English it’s the –est ending or “most”/ “least.”

¿Cuál país hispano es… el más grande? el menos grande? Argentina es la más grande. Uruguay es el menos grande. (Uruguay es el más pequeño.)

Brasil ganó cinco Copas Mundiales. Brasil tiene el mejor equipo del mundo. Italia ganó cuatro. Brasil e Italia son los mejores equipos. La hamburguesa tiene mucha grasa (grease) y es horrible para la salud. Es la peor comida.
