What is present progressive?

What is present progressive? Present Progressive is just a fancy phrase to indicate: Present = currently, now Progressive = actions that are in progress (right now)

Present progressive in english Estela and Jose are dancing. Estela y Jose = Subject Are = helping verb to be Dancing = action verb The dog is eating. The dog = subject Is = helping verb to be Eating = action verb

The sentence structure is the same in both languages In English: The dog is eating. Subject + to be + “ing” verb In Spansh El perro está comiendo. Sujeto + estar + iendo or ando

So how does it look like in spanish? The Spanish version of the “ing” is: “ando” = for “ar” verbs “iendo” = “er” and “ir” verbs. The helping verb “to be” becomes estar (but remember it must be conjugated the way you learned in class).
