AP Spanish Language and Culture Course Description: THIS COURSE IS GIVEN IN SPANISH! Emphasizing the use of Spanish for active communication, it encompasses aural/oral skills, reading comprehension, grammar and composition. Equal emphasis will be given to the review of these four skills. Students will take part in individual as well as partner and group work in the classroom, and with the Stevens Language Lab to further develop oral Proficiency.

Students are able to initiate, maintain, and close a conversation. Students are able to formulate questions in Spanish to seek clarification or additional information. Participation (Aural) – Highly motivated to listen carefully to Spanish speakers. Frequently listen to songs in Spanish, watch telenovelas, change DVD audio to Spanish while subtitles are in English/Spanish. Reading: Enjoy reading a variety of authentic works : literary prose, essays, poems, dramatic works, dialogues cartoons, advertisements, book reviews, and journalistic materials, including editorials. Writing and Grammar: Write cohesive and coherent essays (analytical or persuasive essay in reaction to a text or on a personal, academic, cultural or social issue) exclusively in the Spanish language. Demonstrate exceptional control of grammar and syntax.

Summer Homework La razón principal de hacer tareas durante el verano es seguir practicando de una manera u otra el uso del idioma español inclusiva durante las vacaciones. No se aceptarán trabajos después del 10 de agosto. La tarea para este verano incluye 2 partes: A) Vocabulario – 120 pts. B) Un álbum de gramática- 100 pts. En total valdrá (valer) un 20% de la nota del primer cuartrimestre de la clase de AP. Favor de no esperar hasta al fin del verano para hacer la tarea. Recuerda que es necesario entregar todo el primer día de clases.

A) Vocabulario – 120 pts - Triángulo: Capítulos 1-6 (posted on eCampus AP Spanish Language) (eCampus – download and translate by hand or write from eCampus site into your own composition notebook) -Traduce a inglés las palabras. Necesitarás saber bien este vocabulario antes del primer día de clases. NO GOOGLE TRANSLATIONS. ALL VOCABULARY MUST BE HANDWRITTEN IN PEN. NO TYPING. NUMBER EVERY WORD. SKIP LINES BETWEEN EACH WORD. SKIP 5 PAGES BETWEEN CHAPTERS FOR ADDITIONAL VOCABULARY.
