VERBS Verbs are ACTION WORDS or words like am, is, or are that describe people or things. The infinitive of a verb is the form that has not been conjugated. English infinitives always start with the word “to.” Conjugation is the process of changing a verb when you use it with a specific subject (or person).

¡No! To describe someone as NOT being a certain way, put the word no before the verb: Yo no soy estudiante. I am not a student. Él no es inteligente.  He is not intelligent. In Spanish, the word no always goes before the verb.

Punctuation marks and written accents In Spanish, we use upside-down punctuation marks such as (¿) and (¡) are placed at the beginning of a question or exclamation. ¡Hasta luego! ¿Cómo se llama ella?
