The endings yo-ranosotros/as-’ramos tú-rasvosotros/as-rais él ella Ud. -ra ellos ellas Uds. -ran
Ejemplo: Tomar Go to the ellos/ellas/Uds. form of the preterite tomaron Drop the –rontoma- Add the imperfect subjunctive endings
Ejemplo: Tomar yotomaranosotros/astomáramos tútomarasvosotros/astomarais él ella Ud. tomara ellos ellas Uds. tomaran
All the irregularities of the preterite will be used in the imperfect subjunctive.
Uses of the Imperfect Subjunctive Use the imperfect subjunctive in ALL THE SAME instances when you would use the present subjunctive. (IE: UWEIRDO, adverbial clauses, etc.)
Uses of the Imperfect Subjunctive Use the imperfect subjunctive when the verb in the main clause is in the preterite, imperfect, or conditional and the action in the subordinate clauses happened at the same time or after the verb in the main clause.
Uses of the Imperfect Subjunctive Use the imperfect subjunctive when the verb in the main clauses requires the subjunctive and is in the present or future tense, but the action in the subordinate clause was in the past, before the action in the main clause.
