Making comparisons

Vocabulary of comparison Más de – more than Más… que – more…than Menos de – less than Menos …que – less…than Tan…como – as….as Tanto como – as much as Mejor – better Peor – worse.

Comparisons When comparing two things in Spanish, we use the phrases más que, menos que, and tan como/tanto como. These phrases can be used with an adjective or alone. El fútbol es más interesante que el tenis. Me gusta la pizza menos que el taco. El baloncesto es tan divertido como el voleibol. Me gusta el béisbol tanto como el fútbol.

Comparisons When using adjectives in comparisons, they must match in gender and number with the nouns that precede them. Teresa es más alta que Roberto. Los partidos son más divertidos que las clases.

Comparisons and numbers When you talk comparisons using numbers, you must use más de and menos de. Hay más de siete personas en el equipo. El partido empieza en menos de cinco minutos.

Peor y mejor Marcos juega peor que Pedro. Me gusta el tenis mejor. Los jugadores de Moses son mejores que los jugadores de East.
