Possessive Adjectives

¿Qué son? We use possessive adjectives all the time. A possessive adjective says who owns a particular item. Mine!

¿Recuerdas? You already know a variety of possessive adjectives in Spanish. Remember, they must agree in gender and in number and always go in front of the noun they modify.

Possessive Pronouns from Spanish 1 Ejemplos Mi / Mis : My Nuestro / Nuestros Nuestra / Nuestras : Our Tu / Tus : Your Vuestro / Vuestros Vuestra / Vuestras : Your Su / Sus : His, Her , Your (formal) Su / Sus : Their My dog Mi perro My dogs Mis perros Your cat Tu gato His sister Su hermana

Remember they need to match the number and gender! Our dog Nuestro perro Our classes Nuestras clases

Now…Onto Spanish Possessive Adjectives Mío / Míos Mía / Mías : My / Mine Nuestro / Nuestros Nuestra / Nuestras : Our / Ours Tuyo / Tuyos Tuya / Tuyas : Your / Yours Vuestro / Vuestros Vuestra / Vuestras : Your / Yours Suyo / Suyos Suya / Suyas : His / Hers / Your (Formal) / Yours (Formal) Theirs / Your (Formal) / Yours (Formal)

Ejemplos Voy al partido con un amigo mío. I´m going to the game with a friend of mine. ¿Vas al baile con unas amigas tuyas? Are you going to the dance with some friends of yours?

But wait! There´s more! These possessive adjectives may also be used without the noun. ¿Estas chaquestas son suyas? Are these jackets yours? Sí, son nuestras. Yes, they are ours. Noticed how there is a bit of inference with each sentence.

Actividad 22: ¿Son suyos? 4) ¿De quién son estas joyas? ¿De tu prima? A. Sí, son suyas. B. Sí, son tuyas. 5) ¿De quién es este secador? ¿De Laura? A. Sí, es tuyo. B. Sí, es suyo. 6) ¿De quién es esta corbata? ¿De tu hermano? A. Sí, es suya. B. Sí, es mía. ¿De quién son esos zapatos elegantes? ¿De Ud.? A. Sí, son míos. B. Sí, son mías. 2) ¿De quiénes son esos globos? ¿De los niños? A. Sí, son suyas. B. Sí, son suyos. 3) ¿De quién es esa toalla? ¿De Uds. ? A. Sí, es nuestra. B. Sí, es mía.
