3 Why do we have possessive adjectives? To tell you who owns something To describe a relationship between people or things Examples 1.My dad Mi padre 2. Your (familiar) great-grandfather Tu bisabuelo 3. Our toys Nuestros juguetes Possessive Adjectives – Short form ¡Ten Cuidado! Possessive adjectives agree in gender and number with the noun they describe!

6 How are possessive pronouns formed? 1.Use the long form of the possessive adjective 2.Add el, la, los, las according to the gender and number of the noun it replaces Examples: I have my notes, not yours. Yo tengo mis apuntes, no los tuyos. Our house is big and yours is small. Nuestra casa es grande y la tuya es pequeña. Possessive Pronouns

7 1. Our dog is bigger (more big) than his. Nuestro perro es más grande que el suyo. 2. She wants her toys, not mine. Ella quiere sus juguetes, no los míos. 3. My nephew is six (has six years). And yours, how old is he? Mi sobrino tiene seis años. Y el tuyo, ¿cuántos años tiene? 4. Their friends are tall and ours are short. Sus amigos son altos y los nuestros son bajos. La Práctica
