Direct objects receive the action of the verb and usually appear right after the verb, just like in English.
A direct object pronoun (DOP) takes the place of a direct object noun or phrase.
I have the passport. I [have] the passport. I have it.
He checks the baggage. He [checks] the baggage. He checks it.
Roberto is going to pack the suitcases. Roberto [is going to pack] the suitcases. Roberto is going to pack them.

Direct object pronouns go directly in front of a conjugated verb. Identify your verb or verb phrase. The direct object is the word or phrase directly after the verb.
Tengo el pasaporte. [Tengo] el pasaporte. Lo tengo.
Él factura el equipaje. Él [factura] el equipaje. Él lo factura.
Roberto va a hacer las maletas. Roberto [va a hacer] las maletas. Roberto las va a hacer.
A direct object pronoun can also attach to an infinitive or gerund verb. Ejemplo:hablar hablando
Roberto [va a hacer] la maleta. Roberto va a hacerla.
