 Direct objects receive the action of the verb and usually appear right after the verb, just like in English.

 A direct object pronoun (DOP) takes the place of a direct object noun or phrase.

 I have the passport. I [have] the passport.  I have it.

 He checks the baggage. He [checks] the baggage.  He checks it.

 Roberto is going to pack the suitcases. Roberto [is going to pack] the suitcases.  Roberto is going to pack them.
