Since the ending of the verb in Spanish indicates who performs the action, the subjects (yo, tú, él, & ella) are often omitted. Hablo español.  I speak Spanish. (Use –o when you talk about yourself) Compras la ropa.  You buy the clothing. (Use –as when you talk to a friend.) Mira la television.  He/she looks at the TV. (Use –a when you talk about someone else.) Senora, ¿Estudia mucho?  Ma’am, do you study a lot? (Use –a also when addressing someone in a formal fashion.)
