W¿Por qué los africanos fueron esclavizados? Why Were Africans Enslaved? Europeans tried to exploit labor from the native populations. The large death toll on these populations from disease (smallpox) led to a labor shortage in the New World.

Ventajas del uso de esclavos africanos en las Américas Advantages in using Africans in the Americas. Muchos africanos habían estado expuestos a enfermedades europeas y habían acumulado cierta inmunidad. Many Africans had been exposed to European diseases and had built up some immunity.
