Hace y hacía Hace tres meses que vivo aquí. -”Hace” is used with verbs in the present tense to express an action that began in the past but continues into the present. Hace tres meses que vivo aquí. I’ve been living here for 3 months. (It makes 3 mths. that I live here.) -Notice in English that the phrase “has/have been” is used even though the verb (vivo) is in the present tense in Sp.

Hace y hacía -“desde hace” can also be used Vivo aquí desde hace 3 meses. -Hacía is used to express an action that had been in effect until something interrupted it. Hacía dos años que ellos vivían en Colombia cuando se mudaron a Venezuela.
