Ms. Martinez’s Classroom News September 1, 2016 Special’s Schedule Mon- Center/Guidance Tues- Library Wed- Music Thurs- Art Fri- Gym *If your student does not know how to tie their shoes, this would be a great motor skill to practice at home! *Email: cmartinez@wl.k12.ia.us Spanish Literacy: This week’s theme was school! Students engaged in the readings of The Pout-Pout Fish: El pez cachetón va a la escuela, El Autobus Escolar, Margaret and Margarita and more. Our big focus was trying to make meaning based off of the pictures and details. We also discussed things that we would and would not see at school. Letter of the Week: A. We practiced saying its name, sound, writing it, and building it. We also learned how to mirror Ms. Martinez by copying her actions and saying the words to the different A terms (arbol, abeja, avion, aguila, arana, ardilla). Math Topic: Numbers 1 to 5 for two weeks. We have begun this topic with number boot camp! We first practice saying the name of the number, then take turns finding the different representations of the number amongst other number representations, and then paste them onto a circle map. Students have also begun working on their own circle map books. Intervention (my homeroom only): We have been reading and acting how bucket filler and dipper choices look like. Next Week’s Sight Word: We will begin week 1 with the sight word “yo”. Next Week’s Theme: Community Workers Next Week’s Letter of the Week: E pronounced like “eh”

Ms. Martinez’s Classroom News 1 de Septiembre del 2016 Horario de las clases especiales lunes- Guia de desarrollo martes- Biblioteca miercoles- Musica jueves- Arte viernes- gimnasio *Si el estudiante no sabe cómo amarrarse los zapatos, eso es una buena práctica que pueden hacer en casa. *Por favor padres ayuden a sus hijos/hijas a practicar su nombre para que ellos lo pueden reconocer y escribir. Gracias. *Email: cmartinez@wl.k12.ia.us Espanol: Esta semana leímos los cuentos The Pout-Pout Fish: El pez cachetón va a la escuela, El Autobus Escolar, Margaret and Margarita and more. Nos enfocamos en entender el cuento usando las imágenes y detalles. También discutimos sobre lo que veríamos en la escuela y no veríamos. Letra de la Semana: A. Practicamos diciendo el nombre, sonido, escribiendo la letra, y construyendo la letra. También aprendieron una actividad llamada el espejo de Ms. Martinez en copiar su acciones para las palabras “árbol”, “abeja”, “avión”, “águila”, “araña”, y “ardilla”. Matematica: Números 1 a 5 por dos semanas. Primero empezamos identificando el número, después identificando diferentes representaciones del número, y por último pegandolos junto al número. Estudiantes han empezado a trabajar en sus propios libros pegando imágenes que representan los números. Intervención (solamente mi salon): Hemos leído y platicado sobre buenas decisiones y malas decisiones en la clase. La siguiente semana vamos aprender a leer y escribir la palabra “yo”.
