I’m going to take care of my brother. Voy a cuidar ___ mi gato. I am going to take care of my cat. Note that whenever a person is the object of a verb, the personal a must be used after the verb except when using the verb tener. A may also be used when talking about animals that are pets, but it is not required.

Like hacer and conocer, the verb oír (to hear) has an irregular yo form in the present tense. -oís Some of its forms also require a spelling change where the í becomes an y. Note that the nosotros and the vosotros forms have accents. You may hear the expression ¡Oye! Used throughout the dialog. It is used to get someone's attention, the way Hey! Is used in English. To get Isabel’s attention Ricardo might say: -¡Oye, Isabel!
