Tener idioms: Idioms in English: Shooting fish in a barrel & Party pooper Remember, an idiom is an expression that doesn’t make full sense when translated word for word. You need to look at the phrase as a whole. These Tener idioms, however, aren’t like the “shooting fish in a barrel” example where you could express the same thing in a different way. These are the correct way of stating the different ideas. They just sound funny when translated word for word to English. You will just need to memorize these and remember to use them in the given situations rather than trying to translate from English directly.
