What is the future tense? Future tense verbs describe an action that will happen in the future. Examples in English are: I will run. I will work. They will visit Madrid We will eat.

How do I form the future tense? To form the future tense of most verbs, you take the infinitive of the verb and add the following endings (these are the same for –ar, -er and –ir verbs): Pronoun Ending Yo seré Tú serás Él / ella / usted será Nosotros / as seremos Vosotros / as seréis Ellos / ellas / ustededs serán

What about irregular verbs? Examples What about irregular verbs? Some verbs have irregular stems in the future tense. You need to use thes stems instead of the infinitive, but the endings are the same for regular verbs. Decir (to say) – diré, dirás… Hacer (to do / to make) – haré, harás… Poder (to be able to – podré, podrás… Poner (to put) – pondré, pondrás… Salir (to leave / go out) – saldré, saldrás… Tener (to have) – tendré, tendrás… Venir (to come) – vendré, vendrás… The future tense of haber is habrá (there will be)

Exercise 1 Practice Look at Daniela’s plans for the week. For each day, write a sentence in the yo form of the future tense. Example: El lunes hare vela. Lunes – hacer vela. Martes – ir a la playa. Miércoles – salir con amigos. Jueves – jugar al pádel. Viernes – tener una clase de salsa. Sábado - descansar
