A direct object pronoun tells who or what receives the action of the verb. Direct object pronouns replace the noun. In English, we use me, you, us, it, them, him, and her. I bought the shirt. I bought it. He wears the pants. He wears them. In Spanish, we do the same thing, but we place the direct object pronoun before the verb.

When an infinitive follows a verb, the direct object pronoun can be placed before the conjugated verb or attached to the infinitive. Yo voy a comprar la chaqueta. Yo la voy a comprar. I am going to buy the jacket. I am going to buy it. Yo voy a comprarla.
