Asthma is a heterogeneous disease, usually characterized by chronic airway inflammation. It is defined by the history of respiratory symptoms such as wheeze, shortness of breath, chest tightness and cough that vary over time and in intensity, together with variable expiratory airflow limitation. [GINA 2014] COPD COPD is a common preventable and treatable disease, characterized by persistent airflow limitation that is usually progressive and associated with enhanced chronic inflammatory responses in the airways and the lungs to noxious particles or gases. Espirometría, curva F/V, respuesta BD y manifestaciones de HRB, son útiles para diferenciar las características de la obstrucción al flujo aéreo en asma y EPOC La mecánica respiratoria pletismográfica y en ejercicio puede aportar datos orientadores respecto de los mecanismos fisiopatológicos involucrados en la obstrucción crónica al flujo aéreo DLco debe ser examinada en contexto con otros datos clínicos y funcionales debido a su limitada especificidad La evaluación funcional-celular-bioquímica incluyendo FENO puede ser útil para estudiar y diferenciar los mecanismos obstructivos de origen inflamatorio a nivel bronquial
