2 No tengo tu lápiz. No lo tengo. No me gusta este lápiz. In Spanish, the most common negative word is no. As an adverb negating a sentence, it always comes immediately before the verb, unless the verb is preceded by an object, in which case it comes immediately before the object.

3 But there are other negative words besides “no”: nada nadie nunca ninguno / ninguna / ningún ni ni…ni

4 These words usually come in negative/affirmative pairs: Nada - nothing Algo - something ~ Nadie - no one Alguien - someone

5 ¿Tienes algo en la mano? »Sí, tengo algo. »No, no tengo nada.

6 ¿Hay algo en el refrigerador? No, no hay nada en el refrigerador.

7 No me gustan nada los huevos verdes con jamón.

28 You can’t always use también or tampoco; Don’t use if there is a contrast in meaning. Yo tengo un perro chihuahueño, pero Carlitos tiene un pastor alemán. A Anita no le gusta bailar, y a mí no me gusta cantar. Pablo es dentista, y su hermano Pedro es ingeniero.
