Acts 12:1-7 KJV Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. (2) And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. (3) And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) (4) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. (5) Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. (6) And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. (7) And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

2 Introducción Vivimos en una sociedad llena de estrés hasta el punto que algunos dicen que somos el grupo más grande de neuróticos que han habitado este planeta. Muchos deciden escaparse de este estrés de muchas maneras: drogas, alcohol, insolación y hasta suicidio. De esa manera nosotros nos encontramos anfitriones de problemas: hipertensión, migrañas, golpes, ataque corazón y insomnio. En Hechos 12 encontramos al apóstol Pedro en una situación estresante, que creo que ni uno de nosotros hemos pasado ¡El duerme! ¿Cómo lo hizo?

3 Los Acontecimientos De Hechos 12
Herodes ejecutó a Santiago (1-2). Pedro fue arrestado y encarcelado por Herodes (3-5). Herodes fue animado por la reacción de los judíos a la muerte de Santiago. El arresto y planeó matar a Pedro. A causa de la pascua judía Herodes tuvo que demorar la ejecución de Pedro. No dandole chanzade nada, dieciséis soldados cuidaron a Pedro : El fue atado entre dos de los soldados. Herodes no estaba familiarizado con el milagro de Pedro, o de su misteriosa liberación de la cárcel (Hechos 5:17-24). Acts 5:17-24 KJV Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation, (18) And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. (19) But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, (20) Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life. (21) And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought. (22) But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told, (23) Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within. (24) Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.

4 Los Acontecimientos De Hechos 12
Herodes ejecutó a Santiago (1-2). Pedro fue arrestado y encarcelado por Herodes (3-5). La iglesia era activa, no en insurrección ni liberación armada, pero en la oración ferviente: Ellos usaron y utilizaron un poder más grande. Nosotros a menudo asumimos que ellos oraron para la seguridad física de Pedro y su liberación física de la prisión. De su reacción en los versículos 12-16, hay una razón para dudar de que ellos oraron para eso. Ellos sabían cómo él había enfrentado peligro antes y había negado a Cristo. Ahora quizás ellos oraron para la fuerza espiritual que él quizás encare la muerte como Esteban y Santiago. (14) And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate. (15) And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel. (16) But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

5 The Events Of Acts 12 Herodes ejecutó a Santiago (1-2).
Pedro fue arrestado y encarcelado por Herodes (3-5). ¡Pedro duerme! (6). ¿Puede imaginarse usted eso? ¡Pedro estaba dormido cuándo la muerte parecia una realidad, sólo a pocas horas lejos! Pedro fue bien informado de la razón por la que él estaba en la prisión: El esperaba la muerte. El supo de la muerte de Santiago y el placer de los judíos. ¡Y aun asi él durmió! Pedro sabia también la profecía de Jesús (Juan 21:18-19). ¿Era esto el cumplimiento? ¡Ciertamente se parecía! ¡Y aun él durmió! ¡Esto no era un dormitar! !Era un sueño sano! (7) El Maestro había enseñado a Pedro a dormir (Marcos 4:35-39). John 21:18-19 KJV Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. (19) This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me. Mark 4:35-39 KJV And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. (36) And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. (37) And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. (38) And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? (39) And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

6 ¿Cómo Pudo Dormir Pedro?
¿Cómo le hizo Pedro? ¿Que supo él que pensamiento hizo el sueño posible?

7 ¡Pedro supo que Dios estaba despierto!
Dios era capaz de proteger a Pedro (Salmos 121:1-8). Dios esta en una vigilia constante cuidando de Sus hijos. Por lo tanto, no había temor. ¡Dios es visto como nuestro “centinela.” !Firmes con Dios que siempre nos protege por eso debemos sentirnos seguros! ¡Dios nos ha demostrado en el pasado y no había razón para dudarlo ahora! Hay la paz de la presencia constante de Dios (Salmos 27:1-5; 2:4). ¿No podría repetir Pedro las palabras de David en Salmos 3:1-6? Pedro fue aliviado al recordar las palabras de Jesús antes de subir, “. . . y aquí, yo estoy con ustedes para siempre hasta fin ” (Mateo 28:20). ¿Pero, Dios estaba despierto y sirvió de “centinela” unos pocos días antes cuándo ejecutaron Santiago? ¿Acaso Dios momentáneamente tropezó? ¿se distrajo? ¿Cómo podría acontecer esto otra vez? Esto podría haber causado que la fe de Pedro, y su confianza se debilitaran. Pedro supo otras cosas que ayudaron para que durmiera y venciera el cuestionar a Jehová. Psalms 121:1-8 KJV <A Song of degrees.> I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. (2) My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. (3) He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. (4) Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. (5) The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. (6) The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 8 Pedro sabia que no había razón de temer la muerte
La actitud de Pedro parece semejante a los tres Hebreos (Daniel 3:16-18). ¿“Entonces, qué si muero? ¿eso es terrible?” Muchos hoy viven su vida entera con ansiedad espantosa sobre la muerte. El pensamiento de la muerte les roba paz, alegría y esperanza. El consuelo de Pedro era su seguridad, así él podia “acostarse en paz y dormir” (Salmos 4:8). Pedro compartió este sentimiento con Pablo: El supo en quien él había puesto su confianza (2 Timoteo 1:12). El estaba listo para ser ofrecido en el servicio del Señor(2 Timoteo 4:6-8). Daniel 3:16-18 KJV Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. (17) If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. (18) But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Psalms 4:8 KJV I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. 2 Timothy 1:12 KJV For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 2 Timothy 4:6-8 KJV For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. (7) I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: (8) Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

9 Pedro sabia que ese servicio fiel se recompensaría.
Dios no se olvidaría de su fidelidad (Hebreos 6:10). Más allá de la muerte hay una recompensa garantizada que excederá cualquier sufrimiento en esta vida: Hay un descanso de nuestro trabajo y recompensa (Apoc 14:13). Los que aguantan serán bendecidos por Dios (Apoc 7:14-17). “En la temporada debida cosecharemos” (Galatas 6:9). Pedro supo que él había trabajado duro y así descansó agradablemente, recompesa anticipada. Dulce es el sueño del trabajador, coma mucho, coma poco; pero al rico no le deja dormir la abundancia (Ecclesiastes 5:12). Hebrews 6:10 KJV For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Revelation 14:13 KJV And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. 10 Conclusión ¿Que tan bien duerme usted?
¿Hay cosas que le roban a usted de paz y sueño? Verifique su fe (Romanos 15:13). Verifique su obediencia (Romanos 2:10). Usted debe poner todo su cuidado en él (I Pedro 5:7). Jesús prometió la paz en el medio de la confusión (Juan 14:27; 16:33). Si usted es libre de culpa y pecado, descanse bien. Si usted es culpable de pecado puede que su sueño sea quitado y sus noches sean llenadas con el terror hasta que usted venga a Jesús. Romans 15:13 KJV Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
