Agenda RedCLARA Connections Global Routing Policy Network Services
RedCLARA Routing RedCLARA is peering with several Regional Networks through its access links from ALICE and WHREN-LILA projects Some of these peerings have multi-homed configuration (possibility to access the network through different connections) The global policy adopted by RedCLARA is geographic proximity – NRENs will preferentially use the nearest exit to exchange traffic with other networks
RedCLARA Routing GEANT 622 Mbps WHREN- LILA TEP 2.5 Gbps Pacific Wave 1.0 Gbps
RedCLARA Communities All internal and received prefixes will be marked to one or more BGP communities There are 3 basic types of peerings: ITN (International Transit Network), Connector (regional network) and NREN NREN receives all prefixes ITNs and Connectors receive only NREN prefixes, unless there is a specific agreement for transit

Traffic Engineering Use of MPLS Traffic Engineering in the backbone Applications sensitive to delay could “indicate” to the network their requirement for a different path Manually defined tunnels should prevail over the normal IGP routing decision process

Traffic Engineering Steps Tijuana Sao Paulo Buenos AiresSantiago Panama 1 – create the tunnel 2 – apply PBR 3 – marking and forwarding
Traffic Engineering and QoS It is possible also to give preference to the marked traffic RedCLARA is investigating the proper tools to classify the traffic entering the network MPLS-TE has embedded tools for delivering QoS to the applications
