The STEM of the verb
When the verb has the –AR, -ER, -IR ending it is called the INFINITIVE. Hablar = habl_ Leer = le_ Vivir = viv_ When you remove the –AR, -ER, -IR it becomes THE STEM.
What is the imperfect tense? The imperfect tense describes what someone WAS doing or what you USED to do. Examples: I was playing football OR I used to play football
The imperfect tense I was talking / I used to talk I was eating / I used to eat I was living / I used to live
