En el restaurante  ¿Qué quisiera para tomar?  Me gustaría un té, por favor.  Enseguida se lo traigo.  ¿Nos recomienda la sopa de ajo?  No se la recomiendo, está aguada.

DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS.  They answer the question what or who  Direct Object pronouns replace nouns already mentioned to avoid repetition:  ¿Tienes el libro de historia? Sí, Lo tengo  Lee el libro: L ée lo.  Yo leo el libro: Lo leo.  Estoy leyendo el libro: lo estoy leyendo

DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS.  ME Me  TE You  LO/LA Him/her/it  NOS Us  OS You  LOS/LAS Them

INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS.  The indirect object is the person that receives the action of the verb:  It answers the question “To/ For whom”  El peluquero corta el pelo a mi madre.  The indirect Object pronoun stands for that noun:  El peluquero le corta el pelo.(A mi madre)

INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS.  ME-Me  TE-You  LE-Him, her and You (usted)  NOS-Us  OS-You (plural)  LES-Them, you (ustedes)

WHERE?  BEFORE A CONJUGATED VERB AND NEGATIVE COMMAND!  “Yo lo recomiendo”  “¡No la traigas!”  ATTACHED TO AN INFINITIVE, GERUND AND POSITIVE COMMAND.  “Tengo que decírlo”  Estoy recomendándolo.  ¡Dilo!”

DOUBLE OBJECT PRONOUNS.  Some verbs can have a direct and indirect Object.  Some of these verbs are recomendar, pedir, dejar, traer, servir, llevar and dar.  Ejemplo:  “El mesero trae la cuenta a los clientes.”

DOUBLE OBJECT PRONOUNS.  When the direct and the indirect pronouns go together the INDIRECT pronoun goes first.  Don’t forget your ID (Indirect and Direct)  El mesero trae la cuenta (la) a Pedro y a m í (nos).  El mesero NOS LA trae.

CHANGE LE/LES > SE  Change the indirect object pronoun le and les to SE when used with lo/los/la/las:  El mesero trae la cuenta a Pedro>  El mesero trae la le>  Pedro LE LA trae>  Pedro SE LA trae.

DOUBLE OBJECT PRONOUNS.  AHORA PRUEBA:  El mesero trae la leche a los clientes.  El mesero trae LA LES. (ID)  El mesero trae LES LA. (Change to SE)  El mesero trae SE LA. (where? Before conjugate verb)  El mesero SE LA trae.

Ahora Tú!  Yo pido el pollo a la mesera. Yo se lo pido.  Mi madre recomienda el flan a mi abuela. Mi madre se lo recomienda.  ¡No pidas la cuenta al mesero! ¡No se la pidas!  ¡Deja la propina al mesero! ¡Déjasela!
