SER (to be) -Ser is an irregular verb, which means its forms don’t follow the regular conjugation patterns most verbs follow.

Uses of SER I. To identify people and things

Uses of SER Ser also expresses possession, with the preposition de. There is no Spanish equivalent of the English construction [noun] + ’s (Maite’s). In its place, Spanish uses [noun] + de + [owner]. When de is followed by the article el, the two combine to form the contraction del. De does not contract with la, las, or los.

Uses of SER Ser also uses the preposition de to express origin.

Uses of SER Use ser to express profession or occupation. Unlike English, Spanish does not use the indefinite article (un, una) after ser when referring to professions, unless accompanied by an adjective or other description.

How to remember the uses of SER: For one, you need to be on TOPPP of ser: T: things O: origin T P: people H P: possession I P: profession N G D O For two, S E R + possession I people G profession I N
