Indirect Object Pronouns (IOPs) ((Pronombres de Complemento Indirecto)) For Americans learning Spanish, there are only 5 conceptually difficult topics: 1) Ser VS Estar 2) Por VS Para 3) Preterite VS Imperfect 4) Subjunctive 5) Indirect Object Pronouns / Direct Object Pronouns Prezi: Everything else just requires memorization, practice, and repetition!

IOPs IOPs tell to whom or for whom something is intended. IOPs go before a conjugated verb: Le quiero regalar algo divertido a Héctor. IOPs can be attached to an infinitive: Quiero regalarle algo divertido a Héctor. Both mean: I want to give Héctor something fun.

IOPs me (to/for me) te (to/for you) informal le (to/for him, her, you) formal nos (to/for us) os (to/for you all) informal les (to/for them or you all) formal *** se (replaces le or les when followed by lo, la, los, las)

Circle to whom/for whom the toys are intended and write the correct IOP. 1) _____ voy a regalar unos juguetes a mis hermanos. 2) Voy a regalar____ unos juguetes a mi hermana. 3) Juan _____ va a regalar unos juguetes a mí. 4) Juan va a regalar____ unos juguetes a nosotros. 5) Juan _____ va a regalar unos juguetes a vosotras. 6) Juan va a regalar____ unos juguetes a ti.

When 2 verbs are working together, you can use IOPs before a conjugated verb or after an infinitive. I want to buy him a card. Quiero comprar___ una tarjeta. ___ quiero comprar una tarjeta. I want to buy her a plant. _____________________________

¡Vamos a hablar! 1) With a partner, write a small conversation that includes 4 IOPs and the verbs dar, regalar, and comprar. 2) Practice your conversation, using your best pronunciation. 3) We will record the conversations using I-Movie, in 10 minutes.
